The IT Change Control Administrator is an entry level job in the IT Release & Deployment Management job family.

They assist with ensuring continuous availability of IT services by effectively managing and governing requests for low to medium complexity changes.

They assist with ensuring that all deployment of the release packages coordinated manner, ensuring minimal disruption of services.

They ensure that standardised methods and procedures are used for efficient handling of all changes.

The IT Change Control Administrator assists with ensuring that Change Control processes, policies and methods are defined, applied and executed.

They apply principles and disciplines as prescribed by ITIL to the process. This person assists with the completion of the change management lifecycle and assists with the management and co-ordination of this process to ensure successful execution.

Working at NTT

Manage and co-ordinate change requests

The IT Change Control Administrator will receive, record, review and process requests for changes (RFC) on a regular basis and classify and prioritise the request based on importance, impact and complexity.

They help to assess the risk and technical impact associated with the change and will ask fellow employees to contribute to the assessment of more complex change requests.

IT Change Control Administrator acts as an interface between the requester in business and the technical delivery team and they will ensure that change requests are handed over to the relevant technical team members.

Apply change control process

He or she will assist with the planning, co-ordination and prioritisation of changes based on relatedness and priority. As part of the planned deployment of the change, the IT Change Control Administrator will review plans used for associated development and execution of the change.

All changes are included in detailed change schedules. IT Change Control Administrators use their schedules to track, manage and report on the fulfilment of change requests.

This employee obtains business approval for requests for changes that will require organisational resources such as labour, budget or time from the Change Authorisation Board (CAB).

These individuals will assist with the implementation of the change and co-ordinate the release and deployment process with the release management team.

Once the change has been implemented, the IT Change Control Administrator will assist with the review of the implemented change and close the record or escalate to the Senior IT Change Control Administrator if a successful result was not obtained.

This individual assists with the documentation and storing of all existing change processes and at times may assist with the review and design and documentation of new processes.

Produce and use reports

The IT Change Control Administrator will convene review boards on a regular basis to review the success of changes implemented and to conduct a post mortem of the process.

This provides information for change control process improvement suggestions. These individuals capture and report on metrics that relate to the reporting of the volume of changes, types of changes and no failures of changes.

Manage change control notifications

The IT Change Control Administrator will ensure that the required user communication and notifications are compiled and distributed to prepare for any changes.

They assist with the identification of the changes required to the Change Control process and collaborate with colleagues on other environments to improve and implement these changes.

They ensure that all relevant stakeholders are informed of the correct change control processes.

Manage client relationships

They display a client service orientation, but are able to balance delivery with agreed and contracted expectations.

Behavioural skills

These employees are required to display a high level of attention to detail and good planning ability. They need to communicate effectively and be able to take ownership of problems.
