CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.
The CNIC is searching for an excellent part time clinical researcher (50%) to lead an area devoted to clinical research, including methodological support to research done in the clinical arena.
CNIC is soliciting applications for an experienced and motivated person to act as Chief of Clinical Research and methodology Unit. Such person will be incorporated part time to give methodological support for clinical and translational research project undertaken at the center, and also will lead her/his own clinical research studies aligned with any of the main research programs of the Center (https://www.cnic.es/en/research-programs). The person should have experience in research methodology, including advanced knowledge in statistics, and experience in leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
The selected person will be responsible for:
- Provide methodological (including statistical) assistance to design clinical trials
- Provide methodological (including statistical) assistance in the preparation of competitive calls to fund clinical trials/studies
- Take responsibility of the methodology area of flagship clinical research projects ongoing at CNIC (PESA study and similar endeavours)
- Provide methodological (including statistical) assistance in the writing of clinical research reports (including manuscripts presenting results)
- Lead a multidisciplinary team composed by cardiologists, statisticians, and other profiles
- Provide support to the CNIC scientific leadership in outlining strategic plans with regards to clinical research
- To interact with basic research groups to translate their results into early clinical studies
- To apply for competitive calls to lead clinical studies.
Mandatory requirements:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences
- MD with official training in a speciality related to cardiovascular diseases (eg cardiology) or to research methodology (preventive medicine and public health)
- Training ((master o similar official title) in research methodology
- International experience (a minimum of 12 months working in international institutions in a topic related to this offer)
- Experience as Principal Investigator in 3 or more research projects, funded by public agencies (list them in the CV). Projects must have been active within the previous 5 years (i.e. 2017 onwards)
- A minimum of 3 original articles as corresponding author (or co-corresponding) in journal ranked as first quartile.
Valuable requirements:
- Experience in heading multidisciplinary departments/units (number of years and prestige of the unit will be counted)
- Experience as Principal Investigator in at least one multicentre randomized clinical trial. The acronym and the ID reference of the trial/s will be required
- Additional training in areas related to the topic of this call (number of official titles and prestige of the university issuing the diploma will be counted)
- Number of research projects, funded by public agencies, as Principal Investigator. Projects must have been active within the previous 5 years (i.e. 2017 onwards)

- Number of doctoral thesis directed (or co-directed)
- Teaching experience (number of subjects and years will be counted)
- Number of articles as main author (first, last, or corresponding author) in journals ranked as first quartile in the field of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine
- Number of articles as contributing author in journals ranked as first quartile in in top cardiovascular journals
- Number of articles related to the execution of randomized clinical trials

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-base recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.
At least 3 candidates with the highest score will be interviewed (as long as they reach the minimum of 70 points in the total of the evaluation criteria, C1-C10, see below). The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score is higher than 85 points (C1-C11).
