Position Overview :
The Senior Travel Manager, Global Travel, directs Autodesk’s Global Travel Program in their region and serves as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders throughout the organization.
This high visibility role requires building and maintaining internal partnerships with key Autodesk stakeholders including Finance, Purchasing, Expense Management, A/P, Risk Management, Legal, Audit and C-Suite.
This role is a direct report to the Senior Director, Global Travel & Meetings, and is responsible for Global Travel in their region. Role will be filled in Europe.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Travel Program for 22 countries in Europe. Active countries currently include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK
  • Provide strategic guidance for the global travel processes which improve the end-user experience while maintaining cost controls
  • Oversee the building, insight development and distribution of travel reports for the region
  • Identify issues, develop well-defined recommendations and implement them to correct deficiencies in the program
  • Identify opportunities and process enhancements and implement to streamline all processes
  • Develop global reporting metrics for use by Workplace & Travel leadership during quarterly CFO/CHRO updates
  • Generate recommendations and implement new processes and procedures to progress toward strategic goals
  • Conduct regional and global RFP’s and competitive bids to ensure most competitive pricing for all travel-related vendors such as airlines, hotels, ground transportation, safety/security protocols (ISOS) and TMC’s
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years’ experience in Corporate Travel environment
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of travel automation software
  • Attention to detail and ability to quickly problem solve
  • Solid ability to multi-task and prioritize under deadline-driven environment
  • Effective negotiator (airline contract, hotel and ground transportation RFP experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high-trust relationships and form teams
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of budget management process and accounting/reconciliation of budgets
  • Ability to establish and maintain a strong relationship with internal stakeholders
  • Results-oriented attitude
  • High level of customer-service focus
  • Strong reporting intelligence; development and distribution experience including the ability to design, build and deliver metric reports
  • Professional and mature attitude with measured response to working under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS/BA preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • CTP, CCTE or other travel designation preferred
  • GDS reservation and online booking technology certification/training preferred
  • Experience in travel audit functions
  • Experience in dealing with multiple levels of management, including C-suite
The Ideal Candidate :
  • A proven track record in Global Travel management
  • Strong functional knowledge of Global Travel technologies, operations, tools and process management
  • Managerial experience overseeing a global team of suppliers
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams to drive success
  • A strong focus on improvement opportunities
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem resolution experience
  • Proactively partner with other department functions including: Meetings and Events, Procurement, Finance and IT functions, Audit, HR and Safety/Security
  • Manage multiple projects of varying scope concurrently while meeting timeline milestones and quality expectations
  • Oversee the regional TMC’s to facilitate and document the travel booking process for non-employees and guest travelers
  • Support recruitment and mobility departments to travel booking and billing options
  • Communicate proactively and consistently with travelers, including senior management, providing updates internally and conducting seminars to educate and evangelize the travel program and benefits for travelers
  • In conjunction with the regional TMC’s, this position will monitor the TMC reservations systems and booking reports for compliance to the Autodesk Global Travel and Expense Policies.
  • Be the “Travel Business Partner” to key department stakeholders on development and measurement of success metrics to drive more transparency on travel expenses and how to reduce them
  • Work with all vendors and especially the regional TMC’s to improve customer service for travelers
  • Collaborate with executive and field administrative assistants to gather feedback and share new processes and/or policies
  • Ensure external vendor contractual compliance including airlines, hotels and TMC’s
  • Conduct regular internal surveys to develop employee feedback and recommendations for changes to the America’s travel program
  • Ensure budget management /cost avoidance
  • Negotiate global airline contracts
  • Recommend cost-savings opportunities through discussions with divisional FBP’s on a regular basis (reporting system enhancements)
  • Encourage the use of on-site facilities and virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, etc.) to reduce travel costs before they are incurred and capture and report cost savings and cost avoidance
  • Develop and conduct quarterly scorecards for vendors and communicate performance successes
