The role of Packaging Engineer II with Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for developing package designs, distribution testing, technical documentation, and materials sustainment for both Consumables and Instruments. 

This position is part of the group Package Engineering Center of Excellence located in Miami, FL including Kendall, FL. The role will be On-Site at these 2 fully outfitted sophisticated packaging Test Labs. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time!

As part of the Package Engineering Center of Excellence team, this role will report to the Package Engineering Manager and is responsible for innovative packaging designs, executing detailed test methods using knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM and ISTA, and test result analysis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide packaging support for internal and external customers, globally.
  • Participate in the analysis and resolution of packaging issues using problem-solving methodology.
  • Write technical test protocols, reports, and engineering drawings, and ensure manufacturing/packaging documents are created, updated, and in compliance with company standards.
  • Support the release of new and enhancements to existing product packaging.
  • Define packaging materials, with a focus on waste reduction.

The essential requirements of the job include: 

  • Bachelor's degree in packaging, manufacturing, engineering or packaging related field with 2+ years experience in an FDA-regulated environment, or Masters degree with 0+ years of experience in same fields
  • Experience with technical writing
  • ISO and GMP knowledge

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience with hands-on Distribution Testing per ASTM and/or ISTA
  • Experience with cushion curve analysis
  • CAD Software experience, or similar
  • Cold Chain / Thermodynamics experience or knowledge
