CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.
The CNIC is considering applications for a Postdoctoral position at the Molecular Genetics of Angiogenesis directed by Dr. Rui Benedito. This position will be financed by the project entitled “Understanding and promoting the growth and regenerative functions of blood vessels in heart disease” granted by Foundation La Caixa.

Functions:
The selected candidate will conduct scientific and research work in order to develop an ongoing investigation in the field of vascular biology. This work will include using in vivo genetic models of cardiovascular disease, to perform experiments using different techniques including microdissection, histology, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry analysis. In addition, bioinformatic and computational analysis expertise will be required in the fields of genomics, scRNAseq data and high-throughput image data analysis.
Mandatory requirements:
- PhD in the life sciences.
- Five or more years of research experience.
- International experience (at least more than 3 years of research experience outside of Spain).
- Not having exhausted more than six years of the maximum time established for access to postdoctoral contracts of the Spanish system of science (Ley 17/2022, de 5 de septiembre, de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación)
Valuable Requirements:
- C1.- Experience in the vascular biology field and in working with mice as a model, including experience in angiogenesis models and the analysis of cardiovascular function in developmental and disease settings (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
- C2.- Experience with the integrative analysis of transcriptomics and proteomics data (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
- C3.- Experience in image analysis and Fiji script development and in the use of genetic mosaics mouse models (it will be valued according to the number of years, related publications, known techniques or fraction).
- C4.- Experience with advanced microscopy and flow cytometry (it will be valued according to the number of years, publications, known techniques or fraction).
- C5.- Experience with advanced molecular biology techniques (DNA cloning, including BAC/Plasmid cloning, qRT-PCR) (it will be valued according to the number of years, publications, or fraction).
- C6.- Publication record in the field of life sciences.
- C7.- Interview. (Part or the entire interview will be done in English).

- Postdoctoral research contract of 3 years duration, extendable up to the maximum limit of six years (within the selected candidate career), in accordance with Art. 22 Law 17/2022 of Science, Technology and Innovation, as long as the selected candidate complies with the legal requirements for the formalization of the contract in accordance with the Spanish labor law.
Selection Plan:
The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE OF PUBLIC SERVICE APPROVING THE COMMON CRITERIA OF ACTION IN THE SELECTIVE PROCESSES OF THE ENTITIES OF THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR of April 11, 2022, establishes in point 6.1 that "Unless a specific regulation provides for the selective system of competition, the selective system will be that of competition-public entrance examination".
In the case of CNIC the specific regulations approved by the Board of Trustees of the Foundation establishes a selective system of competition with an interview phase.
A personal interview will be held with at least the three candidates who obtain the highest score, if they reach a total of 60 points in the sum of the evaluable criteria (C1-C6). The candidate with the highest score will be hired, provided that he/she reaches 80 points (C1-C7).
