Caravelo is the only platform in the world specializing in subscriptions for the travel vertical, reducing the need for our clients to develop specific adaptations or logic.
Our data stack is AWS Redshift, Athena and Glue, our database engines vary in CouchBase, Postgresql and MariaDB. We are using Metabase and generate reports in GSheets / Excel.
The mission
We are looking for a BI Analyst to join our team and produce insightful reports, visualisations, and analyses that help Caravelo to make clear, informed decisions.
Our BI Analyst will be our reporting champion and evangelist. And will be responsible for creating and maintaining strong trust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders by providing insightful, relevant reporting and insights.
As an experienced BI Analyst, you will work closely with the Data Engineers and Product Manager to create and maintain an accurate, reliable, and robust ETL and automated data extraction process that gathers relevant and significant data.
Your work impacts the entire organisation, you will bring your expertise and help us drive Caravelo to become a data-centric and data-driven organisation.
This role reports to the VP Engineering.
In 1 Month
You get to know all the stakeholders (internal and external) and their reporting and data needs
You participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on the product roadmap and development strategy
You get familiar with the company's product, its architecture related to databases and how information flows
You understand the existing tools used by the company to produce reports and insights
In 3 Months
You become fully familiar with our current data schema and reporting infrastructure
All reports and visualizations are produced on a timely basis
Your analysis and insights are reliably available and accessible to stakeholders
You become the reporting champion and start producing communications
You detect process improvements and get better insights that help drive decisions
In 6 months
All products have reporting and visualizations in a single, accessible location
You ensure that all company embraces Data processes :
All employees are informed on basic data product processes, and familiarized with tools
Data team roadmaps and processes are respected by both BI Analyst and stakeholders
Jira and PS ticketing process for data issues is clear and standardized, and tickets are clearly documented and updated
Duties and responsibilities
Caravelo data reporting, analysis, and visualizations are owned, reliable, and relevant.
Build reports and visualizations on a timely basis
Produce analysis and insights in a reliable way, make them available and accessible to stakeholders
Data reporting and analysis is shared and fostered across the organization :
All reports and visualizations are fully documented
Participates in regular data demos and presentations, to assist presenting and evangelizing new and updated data features
Standardize reporting templates, dashboard templates, and Jira tickets for data.
Required skills and experience
Must have :
At least 2 years of work experience providing internal teams with the necessary reports.
Strong analysis and experiment / reporting design skills
Proficiency with SQL queries, spreadsheets, report writing, and presenting findings
Knowledge of some NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, Couchbase, MongoDB or similar)
Knowledge of visualization tools like Cumul.io, MetaData, Tableau, Google Analytics
Growth mindset : Ability to function as an IC of reporting and analysis, while also striving for improvements and stability in a new and fast-changing department
Attention to detail and precision, as the owner of all company reporting
Strong communication skills, with an ability to clearly explain complex concepts to multiple audiences, and present information in a simple but insightful manner
Good written and verbal communication skills, English is required (B2, C1 Level)
Be resourceful and self-organized, with ability to work independently
Good to have :
Knowledge in Typescript, JSON, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5 (with libraries such as D3, C3, QuickSight)
Experience with Cloud Data warehouse (like Redshift)
