POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to identify and implement continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity and reduce cost within Operations.  Provide training and implementation of DBS (Danaher Business System) through the utilization of Kaizen Events and total associate involvement to drive lean manufacturing processes.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Own and drive Danaher Business System (continuous improvement) rigor throughout the plant:

    • Build and maintain the DBS / Kaizen Funnel to achieve 1x kaizens per people leader, prioritized to drive impact on critical KPIs

    • Coach stakeholders through kaizen process from kaizen identification, charter development, kaizen execution, and sustainment

    • Personally lead and/or facilitate kaizen events every 6-weeks while modeling ‘Best Team Wins’ coaching and facilitation behaviors

    • Hold stakeholders accountable for sustainment of improvement results from DBS / Kaizen events at a rate >80%

    • Develop a funnel for certified practitioners that are the lean tool experts at he site.

  • Act as knowledgeable business partner to for the teams and drive measurable improvement in critical KPIs:

    • Analyze data and processes to improve KPIs

    • Assist in the development of action plans to drive measurable improvement in KPIs; track progress via daily management and deploy problem solving where required

    • Lead and/or provide recommendations for the identification and selection of improvement projects, including insights to support strategic planning and policy deployment

    • Responsible for the daily implementation of DBS processes and tools including daily management, action plans, and problem solving

    • Participate in appropriate KPI and leadership forums and provide effective coaching to achieve annual targets

  • Improve DBS capability through coaching, facilitation, and personal development:

    • Build personal DBS and continuous improvement capability through focused tool training

    • Train associates and leaders in various DBS tools

    • Communicate and drive “Best Practices” across the busines

    • Work with the Global Hach DBS team and Corporate DBSO (Danaher Business System Office) to schedule events and supply needed resources / expertise

    • Influence change management

  • Coach and support the annual strategic planning process at the plant and translate long-term vision into measurable yearly targets

OTHER NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•     Work as part of the team

•     Support NPI and open innovation activities

•     Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or appropriate background with related work experience.

  • Experience with various lean manufacturing processes with exposure to Toyota Production Systems.

  • In depth knowledge of quality principles and technical tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, variation reduction, design for six sigma, control charts).

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems.

  • Mechanical aptitude – ability to work in operations cells and partner with production engineers to create tools, jigs and fixtures to eliminate variation.

  • Experience and working knowledge/application of Lean tools and concepts preferred.

  • Great computer skills (data analysis, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistical tools).

  • Must be able to provide concise executive summaries of business performance issues, changes needed or made, results delivered.

  • Excellent communication skills to work with individuals across all levels of the organization and training others.
