We are looking for a talented, collaborative, and adaptable lawyer to join our Consumer Products Business and Legal Affairs (BLA) team.
The successful candidate will be based in Madrid, Rome, or Paris and report to the current Director and Head of EMEA Consumer Products BLA who is based in London.
Occasional travel to other Netflix offices may be required. The Role : The Netflix Consumer Products and Experiences team amplifies fan love around its titles by developing new touchpoints for consumers to interact with Netflix : physical products, programmes at retail, experiences, and publishing.
This is a unique opportunity to be an important part of a growing Netflix initiative.You will provide BLA support for the EMEA Consumer Products team, acting as business affairs and legal advisor on all aspects of licensing and merchandising, including strategy, rights, manufacturing, health and safety, risk management, category management, licensee procurement, product development, and marketing.
You will work across the entire EMEA region but with a focus on certain markets dependent on your language skills (see below).
- Responsibilities will vary but will include : deal negotiation and contract drafting for merchandise licensees, retail marketing campaigns, and collaborations with third-party brands;
- ongoing licensee management; creative review of product creative to advise on IP and clearance issues; advising on talent agreements or third-party IP rights;
- reviewing marketing campaign creative and advising on marketing / advertising laws; providing legal training to business partners;
creating precedents, toolkits and guidance notes. In addition to the purely legal work, you will be an important contributor to the broader business strategy of the EMEA Consumer Products team.
Beyond the immediate CP BLA team and our business partners, you will work closely with cross-functional partners in accounting / finance, operations, tax, participations, and other partners across the Netflix EMEA Marketing, Advertising, Comms & Consumer Products Legal team and the wider Netflix Legal team.
Preferred candidate profile :

- You are a strategic, commercial thinker with sound judgement and you focus on practical solutions just as much as getting the right legal answer.
- You are comfortable assessing risk and making smart decisions in the face of ambiguity.
- You are a lawyer with junior to mid-level experience / qualifications. You have a good grounding in intellectual property and commercial law, likely gained in a law firm or in-house role.
- The working language of our team is English, but we have a particular need for a lawyer who can work with our Southern European licensees in their local language.
Therefore the successful applicant will need to be fluent in English plus at least one of Spanish, Italian, or French (with multiple languages strongly preferred).
- Ideally, you will have experience in Consumer Products licensing, whether coming from a merchandise licensee, licensor, or licensing agency background.
- Ideally, you will have experience or familiarity with television or film-related agreements (including talent deals).
