Role purpose

This role offers a unique opportunity for a Data Protection Lawyer to join a growing and global team. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring GDPR compliance, managing data incidents, and providing advisory services on innovative projects.

Exceptional writing and problem-solving skills are essential, and the candidate will have the chance to contribute to the development and implementation of global privacy programs.

This role aligns with Colt's commitment to providing excellent Data Protection services for both customers and internal stakeholders.

Keys accountabilities

  • Legal Compliance :
  • Assist Colt group in adhering to EU and international data privacy laws, including GDPR, Colt's Binding Corporate Rules, and other international privacy regulations.
  • Build GDPR and other Privacy compliant programs globally within the organization.
  • Ensure key contracts are GDPR compliant.
  • Training and Awareness :
  • Perform data privacy training for the organization.
  • Drive a culture of privacy and security by design at all levels.
  • Write and update detailed guides on Data Protection practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Incident Management :
  • Assist Colt in responding to and managing data incidents.
  • Support the management of incident response and any notification obligations.
  • Documentation and Compliance Projects :
  • Draft privacy documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Carry out Data Protection compliance projects.
  • Identify, evaluate, and document the company's data processing activities.
  • International Collaboration :
  • Assist Colt and its vendors in conducting Data Protection impact assessments and international data transfers.
  • Negotiate data transfer agreements.
  • Advisory Role :
  • Provide key Privacy advisory role on all projects, balancing Colt's BCRS request, business needs, risks, and regulations.
  • Advise on the Data Protection aspects of innovative creations, including AI and digital transformation.
  • Legal Expertise :
  • Offer legal and compliance advice on Data Protection and GDPR.
  • Ensure key contracts align with GDPR compliance.
  • Communication and Integration :
  • Advise key internal stakeholders on Data Protection matters.
  • Integrate, automate, and streamline new procedures and technologies, embedding them within the organization.

Role Specific Requirements

  • Qualified to practice law.
  • Prior working experience in global Data Protection preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Driven and with advisory experience on the legal and compliance aspects of data privacy and GDPR.
  • Fluent in English as this is the company language.
  • Significant experience with GDPR and national privacy laws and be the nature of its data processing activities.
  • Prior experience handling the implementation of GDPR and other Privacy regulations including multi-jurisdictional personal data issues.
  • Solid understanding of data management, security and controls and risk management will be highly valued.
  • Advisory on the Data Protection of innovative new creations including AI and digital transformation.
  • Expertise drafting relevant documents, contracts and agreements.
  • Exceptional writing skills and problem-solving skills for the preparation of policies procedure, reports to executive and board, and strategy related documents.

It would be desirable :

  • Another European language
  • Familiarity with the telecommunications industry
  • Qualified studies in Data Protection preferably a Master but also any official courses.
