With more than 400 staff in North America and Europe (and growing), the practice areas under which our work falls include : Market Access and Outcomes Strategy, Patient-Centered Outcomes Assessment, Health Economics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Biostatistics, Surveys and Observational Studies, and Health Preference Assessment.

We are looking for a dynamic and talented Director, Health Economics to join our . Our research is used by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device / diagnostic, and other healthcare technology manufacturers and Health Technology Assessment authorities worldwide to inform their decisions about the availability, pricing, and reimbursement of new healthcare interventions.

As a Director, Health Economics you will work within an experienced team in a friendly and collaborative environment. As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in leading-edge research and economic modelling, evaluating the humanistic and economic value of new medicines and healthcare products globally.

You will proactively contribute to the award of new research contracts, and you will have the opportunity to build and manage a team of health economic modellers over time as our organisation grows.

Location :

Office-based options in Manchester, UK; Ljungskile, Sweden; Barcelona, Spain; and Lyon, France. Additionally, we are open to considering remote work arrangements for candidates based in the UK and other European Union countries.

Responsibilities

  • Work proactively and collaboratively with clients around the world to recommend, perform and disseminate health economic research that will support our client’s products through the health technology assessment / pricing and reimbursement process in order to optimise patient access
  • Design and program health economic models to examine the cost-effectiveness, budget impact, cost-of-illness, disease transmission, budget allocation, and early threshold pricing using decision-analytic techniques such as decision trees, Markov, constrained optimisation, and simulation
  • Drive excellence by managing scientific projects and teams, ensuring the validity and quality of models, reports, publications, and other deliverables within agreed timelines and budgets
  • Proactively contribute to the award of new research contracts, by developing great client relationships and taking charge of crafting impactful proposals
  • Spearhead all aspects of research required to inform health economic models including systematic and targeted reviews of published literature and health technology assessment agency documentation, covering clinical evidence, economic models, cost studies, quality of life studies, utilities, epidemiology, and burden of illness studies
  • Facilitate seamless communication with clients and team members through email, telephone, and in-person interactions, providing updates on projects and proposals
  • Elevate the impact of your work by presenting research findings directly to clients and at professional conferences
  • Enhance your external recognition and scientific stature by contributing to peer-reviewed journals and participating in conferences, symposia, webinars, and LinkedIn posts

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Health Economics, operations research, industrial engineering, mathematics, biostatistics, decision sciences, public health, pharmacy, epidemiology, statistics, or medical sciences or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years post Master’s / PhD experience in leading the conceptualisation and development of cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, acting as the main technical lead ensuring validity and quality in a professional setting, is essential
  • Experience in managing decision modelling projects and leading project teams.
  • Proficiency in computer programming, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic for Applications
  • Experience with other programming languages (e.g., R, Simul8, MATLAB, SQL, SIMIO, simulation packages) is beneficial
  • Experience conducting targeted searches of the literature to identify key data or evidence
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proven expertise in technical writing, evidenced by a portfolio of technical reports and / or academic articles
  • Excellent organisational skills, adept at efficiently managing multiple projects at the same time
