The Head of Strategy & Operations is part of the GES leadership team.

As a vital member of the Leadership Team the purpose of this role is to lead with vision, strategy, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

With a responsibility to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organization and the delivery of world-class services to our stakeholders.

The contributions of this role will be instrumental in advancing our mission of optimizing efficiency, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The GES organization has the overarching responsibility to manage all insourced and outsourced activities on behalf of the Business Partners and Businesses.

GES provides shared services to DSM globally in the areas of Finance, HR, IT and Procurement. The goal of GES is to help all internal customer to improve their business by offering best-in class services with the highest cost efficiencies.

The Head of GES Strategy & Operations is heading all aspects of GES’s strategy across the organization as well as regions.

Additionally, the position also manages all transformation (mergers etc.) activities supplemented by driving General Operational activities viz.

Incubation, Project Management, Continuous improvement, service management, Service Desk, Master data management and Future School.

GES Enterprise Services Operations was set up to enable the Global Enterprise Services organization to focus on its strategic priorities.

The group conceives and manages organizational transformation and

manage elements of Operations that cut across all services offered. In addition, the group is also responsible to support dsm-firmenich in areas like service desk, IDS and masterdata management These services were underpinned by a focus on customer interaction, high quality operational efficiency and highly motivated professional employees in dsm-firmenich.

In total, approximately 68 employees are part of STO.

Your key responsibilities

Strategic

  • Define and execute the GES Enterprise Services Operations short, mid-term and long term strategy
  • Accountable for contributing to the GES strategy to enhance cost efficiencies and optimize location synergies
  • Maintain strong business relationships with all stakeholders (internal / external customer groups, peers, seniors, at all levels of the organization.)
  • Actively contribute to the GES LT,

Operational

  • Set and meet all operational goals and deliver on agreed annual operating plan
  • Agee on and set Enterprise Services Operations Service Levels (SLA’s) with all internal customers globally and ensure they are met
  • Employ strategies to ensure the organization operates using lean principles and continuously improves
  • Prove the GES leadership with appropriate analytical and reporting means that will ensure meaningful decision support for senior management
  • Provide direction for developing, applying and evaluating policies and procedures as necessary
  • Manage, produce, control and report on the 9 million euro Enterprise Services Operations P&L and budget. Ensure effective cost control and value for money and also suggests & drive cost reduction opportunities
  • Define governance structure and practices that ensure compliance with all corporate policies and ensure internal controls are very high level to mitigate potential risks
  • Observe the SHE regulations and fulfil the warning function when regulations are not met or when a dangerous situation occurs

People related

  • Oversee hiring for key leadership roles within Enterprise Services Operations and ensure adequately skilled resources within Enterprise Services Operations
  • Develop employees to ensure they have the appropriate skills to provide high quality service and support
  • Manage +- 70 employees in Enterprise Services Operations, spread over 4 different locations (Barcelona, Brazil, India and the Netherlands).

You bring

  • 20+ years of experience in service delivery with a global shared service environment, 10+ years in a leadership role managing Strategy, transformation and operations.
  • Delivery experience in all or multiple streams of the following : Strategy, Change and communications, Digital, New business, Enterprise Project Management, Continuous improvement, Enterprise Service Desk, Enterprise Service Management, Enterprise Integrated Creative solutions, Enterprise Master Data Management and Incubation services.
  • Experience of leading teams (for 100+ headcount) across different cultures and time zones
  • Experience in large matrix, multi-cultural organizations
  • Strong academic background. MBA or other relevant post graduate degree from a recognized institution

Important notes

This job title is temporary and will be adjusted once the job grading structure for the new Group will be adopted (covering among others : grades’ design, job evaluations, calibration, and job titles’ nomenclature).

Until these adjustments are finalized, current compensation packages will be grandfathered for those whose new position turns out to be graded lower than their current position.

This temporary period will last not more than 24 months for the legacy DSM Executives or legacy FIR SLT members, and not more than 12-18 months for all other employees from the moment the candidate moves into their new position.
