As part of the Worley Community and under supervision and mentorship within the team, you will assist in the delivery of consulting services to Worley and our customers.

Purpose

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate with strong technical and communications skills to work in the environment risk assessment team formed by safety risk engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists and environmentalists.

For this role you will need to have a special interest in working in projects related to environment and society, but also be attracted to working with data management and have some experience working with Excel and Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Environmental Risk team developing risk assessment and management tools, conducting fate and transport modelling and developing calculation tools.
  • Support in the identification of initiating events and safety risks that could result in environmental damages.
  • Fault tree analysis.
  • Provide technical support, especially on data analysis and programming of the tools.
  • Interpretation of technical data related to site contamination, geologic and hydrogeologic data. Data analysis, assessment and interpretation.
  • Support executing Tier 1 and Tier 2 risk assessments, data gap analysis and recommendations.
  • Preparation of technical reports.
  • Support to the project manager / s with cost controls, quality assurance.
  • Participate in and support business development activities including proposals (mentored by senior staff).
  • Participate in discussions with clients and regulatory personnel (accompanied by senior staff).

Academic Background :

Bachelor s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental sciences;

Master’s degree in environment, programming, or big data (alternatively relevant work experience in this area)

Languages :

  • Spanish native
  • Proficient in spoken and written English

Experience :

2-4 years of relevant experience

Technical Knowledge :

  • Advanced skills in Excel, programming macros is a must. Programming (Visual Basic, Python), data analysis (Power BI). Analytical skills.
  • Basic hazard identification / hazard operation analysis. Identification of safety risks. Basic knowledge of fault tree analysis.
  • Contaminated land assessment, development of conceptual site models and Environmental Risk assessment.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of environmental contaminants (petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, etc.), exposure pathways and potential linkages to receptors.
  • Experience / understanding on the EU Environmental Liability Directive, Spanish legislation on environmental liability, ASTM and USEPA standards on conceptual site models and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong word and power point skills.
  • Minimum GIS skills.
