Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations.

Coordinates with architecture / engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.

Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs.

Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.

Working at NTT

The Facilities Planning Engineer is responsible for planning changes to the facility layouts (plant, office, and production equipment).

This position reviews, analyses, and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs.

Key Role and Responsibilities :

  • Gather and analyse data, blueprints and reports
  • Review, analyse ad estimate cost and preparing budget
  • Design and oversee the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems and quality controls
  • Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies
  • Develop processing plans and optimising resource allocation
  • Plan and coordinate infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards
  • Prepare reports and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders in the development of design criteria and preparing layout and detailed drawings
  • Review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs
  • Inspects installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Develop criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes
  • Inspect facilities for failed or failing building component and respond to reported system component failures

Academic Qualifications and Certifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering
  • Relevant certification

Experience required :

  • Experience as a Facilities Planning Engineer
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with third parties
  • Experience in similar IT roles, with a focus on facilities planning
  • Proven working experience in a large-scale organisation
  • Experience, judgment and drive to plan, make decisions and accomplish individual and team goals
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience in performing economic evaluations, feasibility studies and preparing requests for budgetary approvals
  • Experience with professional consultant in planning and executing engineering studies
  • Experience in applying and analysing process / system simulation
