RSB - Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the team as our GHG Project Manager an ideal position for an someone interested in furthering an international career in an organization focused on sustainability and industry transformation.

Please note that this is a home-office position based in Spain. In order to apply you must already be in possession of a work permit for this country.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As GHG Project Manager, you will report to the Projects Director and work closely with other team members to support the implementation of advisory service projects with technical knowledge and application.

Your responsibilities include :

Project Management

  • Manage multiple sustainability and advisory services-related projects, focusing on LCA GHG accounting (RSB, CORSIA, EU RED), sustainability requirements, and supply chain mapping.
  • Lead project implementation, involving GHG calculations, scenarios and sensitivity analysis, process mapping, data gathering, in an independent manner, engaging with clients.
  • Where relevant, the GHG Project Manager shall use and apply RSB methodologies and tools within the scope of advisory services projects (specially the GHG tool)
  • Take the lead on topics related to LCA GHG emissions of emerging technologies (e.g., Power-to-X) in sectors such as maritime, aviation, and road transport.

Engagement and Outreach

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and dialogues aimed at positioning RSBs lead in GHG and LCA related topics.
  • Lead business development conversations around GHG.
  • Contribute to content creation, through development of communication pieces based on LCA and GHG project implementation.

Internal Support

  • Support other functional areas, where GHG and LCA inputs are required, including methodology reviews, internal tool updates, etc.
  • Other activities as deemed relevant to Advisory Services purposes, and support to other functional areas if required.

Requirements

Experience

  • Proven track record in supporting companies with LCA GHG emissions calculations and sustainability claims.
  • Knowledge of reporting frameworks for GHG calculation, such as GHG Protocol, SBTi, and GHG LCA methodologies (ISO)
  • Background in the bioenergy and biomaterial sectors, showcasing a nuanced understanding of industry intricacies.
  • Robust quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, underpinned by a keen ability to derive insights from complex data sets.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously and client-facing environments.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills for different technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a science- and metrics-based mindset, ensuring decisions are grounded in rigorous analysis and measurable outcomes.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in life-cycle assessment, with a focus on carbon footprint, energy balance, mass balance for sectors such as bioenergy and biomaterials.
  • Desirable :
  • Experience in conducting techno-economic analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of key regulations governing sustainability, including EU RED and ICAO CORSIA.
  • Hands-on experience with sustainability LCA and GHG certification related processes, demonstrating knowledge in industry best practices.

Education and qualifications

  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Degree in a relevant field, e.g., sustainability, environmental management, chemical engineering, materials engineering, etc.
  • Confidence and ability to communicate effectively with companies, governmental institutions, non-profit agencies, academia, and other experts on a global scale.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.
  • Valid work permit for Spain.
