Hydrogen Europe is the leading organization representing European based companies and stakeholders that are committed to moving towards a (circular) carbon neutral economy. With more than 520 companies and national associations as members, we encompass the entire value chain of the European hydrogen and fuel cell ecosystem. Our vision is to propel global carbon neutrality by accelerating European hydrogen industry and we are the industrial key partner of the Clean Hydrogen partnership.

Main responsibilities 
  • Contribute to developing and rolling out Hydrogen Europe’s strategy, positioning, and advocacy on current and future EU Climate and Industrial Policy issues, particularly with regards to carbon pricing policies, Industrial Policy for manufacturing in Europe and sustainability aspects in the hydrogen economy. 
  • In close coordination with Chief Policy officer, you will manage the Industrial Policy and Sustainability team; a team of 2-3 policy officers focusing on policy development and advocacy towards EU institutions.
  • You will be responsible, together with your team, for managing various Working Groups. You will be in charge of developing and drafting position papers with the industry, responding to public consultation and creating and nurturing alliances with strategic partners.
  • In close cooperation with the Chief Policy Officer and the CEO, you will lead the advocacy work towards EU institutions on the topics of carbon policy (ETS, CBAM, CCUS), Industrial Policy (e.g. state-aid for manufacturing) and sustainability (materials dependency, circularity, chemical uses, etc.)
  • You will represent Hydrogen Europe externally, developing partnership with other like-minded stakeholders, participating and speaking at external events. 
  • You will work closely with the Market intelligence team to develop irrefutable arguments in favor of a faster development of clean hydrogen solutions that lead to decarbonization.
  • You will work closely with other policy team members that focus on energy and infrastructure, mobility and international trade.

Requirements 

  • University or advanced degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences (EU studies, Political Science, International Relations), European law, economics, engineering 
  • Degree on technical/scientific sciences if you have a passion for policy
  • Over 7 years work experience in European affairs; knowledge and strong interest climate and sustainability policies with a passion for hydrogen is a plus.
  • Experience in carbon pricing policy policy.
  • Solid understanding of EU institutions and their workings as well as understanding of the current situation related to politics, economics and policy related to energy and climate.
  • A strong brussels-based network with experience in handling EU dossiers. 
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of other European languages an asset. 
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Accuracy, attention to detail. 
  • Meeting deadlines and providing a high-quality service, even when working under pressure. 
  • Flexible, reliable, good team player with positive can-do attitude. 

Skills 

  • Solid organisational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple issues and tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent written, communication and analytical skills. 
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team. 
  • Knowledge and capability with Microsoft Office such as power points, word and excel.
