Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud .
We are currently looking for an Infrastructure as Code Engineer (Contractor) to come and join us in Europe as part of our new team developing the next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.
Objective
The contractor will maintain company IT infrastructure, including continuous integration, training, and demos, with a key focus on Jenkins-based CI services, covering package building, testing, and release processes.
Additionally, he'll champion GitOps for deploying critical research and development services.
Services
- Maintain the IPCEI-CIS project infrastructure : continuous integration, training and demos.
- Maintain and develop the internal research and development toolchain and infrastructure.
- Maintain and develop the release process pipelines.
- Maintain and develop next generation cloud-edge platform software deployment and evaluation tools.
- Control resource usage, assists team members on the usage of the cluster.
- Perform training sessions with the team for new infrastructure features.
- Provide different statistics : infrastructure usage, web page visits, software package and repository downloads, marketplace appliances.
Duration
From 1st April 2024 to 30 June 2026 (27 months)
Location
Remote (occasionally F2F coordination meetings)
Budget
Maximum hour rate is 30 euros
Maximum work hours per year is 1.778
The maximum estimated cost is 4.445 euros per month, and a total of 120.015 euros
Technical Specifications
Contractors must demonstrate the following requirements :
- Bachelor in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5 years of hands-on experience in automation using Infrastructure as Code techniques
Evaluation Criteria
Eligible contractors will be prioritized according to the following criteria :
- Price : Cost per hour
- Additional Education : Master or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Additional Experience : Number of years of experience in research and development projects in the field of cloud and edge computing funded by European Commission
- Technical Skills : Experience in Open-source software for cloud management and Infrastructure as Code methodology
Administrative Specifications
Before the signature of the contract, the successful selected contractor will be requested to provide the following certificates :
Positive certificate, issued by the local Social Security Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its Social Security obligations;
or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established
Positive certificate, issued by the local Tax Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its tax obligations;
or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established
The successful selected contractor will be given a two weeks period after the notification of the award to provide the above-mentioned documents.
