I am are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in metallic design and extensive experience in product design, and designing with SolidWorks .
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a proven track record of designing innovative products with a focus on metallic components.
The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop robust designs from concept to production, driving forward technological advancements that enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of urban transportation.
Tasks
Reporting to the COO / CIO, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer :
- Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical components and assemblies, with a primary focus on metallic materials.
- Utilize SolidWorks software to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings for manufacturing.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design concepts and ensure adherence to performance requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing and quality assurance to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
- Generate documentation such as BOMs, specifications, and engineering reports to support design decisions and facilitate manufacturing.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation activities to verify design integrity and functionality.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Mechanical Design and manufacturing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design with a focus on metallic components and assemblies.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software. Experience with PDM / PLM systems is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes, especially related to metallic design.
- Experience with FEA and other simulation tools for design validation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
- Experience in product development lifecycle from concept to production.
- Close experience with production / factory is a plus.
