Do you have extensive experience within Medical Affairs and are you driven to develop and lead a new Medical Affairs organization in Spain and Portugal?

If so, now is your chance to join Ascendis Pharma as our new Medical Affairs Director, Spain and Portugal.

Ascendis Pharma is a fast-growing biopharmaceutical company with locations in Denmark, Germany, the United States, and new offices across Europe.

As an independent biopharma, we apply our TransCon technology to our pipeline of long-acting prodrug therapies that address unmet patient needs.

We have successfully launched our first innovative product in the US, have launched several products in in Germany, and we are on the brink of expansion across Europe.

You have the opportunity to be part of establishing and building our Ascendis Pharma affiliate in Spain and Portugal and driving successful launches of our endocrinology pipeline.

You will report directly to Nyssa Noyola, General Manager, Spain / Portugal who will soon be based in Madrid, Spain.

You will be responsible for :

  • Building and leading the Medical Affairs organization in Spain and Portugal.
  • Building and managing KOL relationships & strategic partnerships within healthcare and societies.
  • Developing and executing the Global Medical Affairs strategy for Spain and Portugal.
  • Leading the development, management, and execution of Advisory Boards and congress activities in Spain and Portugal.
  • Overseeing investigator-sponsored trials (ISTs) and compassionate use Early Access Programs.
  • Providing medical expertise, and collaborating with Commercial, Legal, and Regulatory for development and review of pricing & reimbursement materials, Labeling, advertising, and promotional materials.
  • Developing / refining Medical Affairs policies and procedures and SOPs, to ensure and maintain excellence in standards and practices.
  • Working closely with Head of Medical Affairs, Europe, and Japan, Commercial and Clinical Development to plan and implement launch strategies, tactics, and life cycle management.
  • Providing assessments of product opportunities and threats.
  • Developing and delivering presentations on Medical Affairs projects to both internal and external audiences within legal, compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  • Staying abreast of up-to-date knowledge on all clinical data relevant to the TransCon endocrinology portfolio, the competitive landscape, new therapies, clinical trends, and newly issued regulatory laws to promptly identify possible impact, competition, or improvements to product programs.

  • Global & European Medical Management Team
  • Strategic Support Functions

Your Profile

  • M.D. degree
  • At least 10+ years of industry or academic experience, hereof min. 5 years within Medical Affairs
  • Knowledge in basic and clinical science, endocrinology (preferred)

Furthermore, you bring :

  • Strong demonstrated leadership and team building skills, as well as the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with product launches in Spain and Portugal.
  • Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking.
  • Unbridled curiosity.
  • Commitment to cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and excellent organizational skills.
  • Sound judgement in terms of handling complex, confidential, and regulated information.
  • Also, you are proficient in Spanish and English at a professional level, both written and spoken. Language skills supporting other countries within Europe is a plus.

As a person, you are a strong team player, proactive in nature and have a can-do, self-starter attitude.

Travel : up to 40% of the time, mostly domestically, but also internationally
