Job Description

The Outcomes Research Senior Specialist participates in defining the MKT-Access proposal for products under his responsibility within the MKT-A Department and with the Business Unit.

Occasional interaction with HTA bodies assessing our products, to optimize the position of the company drug, building on the product's value proposition and the different OR tools that support that positioning.

This position plays a key role in supporting evidence-based decision making within the organization and works closely with cross-functional teams to generate and interpret data that informs healthcare policies, guidelines, and market access strategies.

Key Responsibilities :

Value proposition : Develop a compelling Value Proposition for our drugs focused on the Spanish MKT Access customers, in close interaction with the different functions within Global Market Access as well as local Pricing and Medical Affairs functions, based on the clinical and economic attributes of the product, customized to the Spanish clinical practice environment.

To gather or generate the relevant data or analyses needed to substantiate the products' local Value Propositions, in close coordination with the Business Units and Medical Affairs functions, by filling gaps in the International Strategy to meet local requirements for the product future value proposition.

  • Health care authorities : Support and engage in the discussions with health care authorities (payers, experts in health technology assessment and budget holders) regarding the MKT Access conditions for the company products from the drug value and health economic (price analysis, budget impact and cost-effectiveness) perspectives.
  • Data analysis and interpretation : Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, including electronic health records, claims databases, and patient-reported outcomes.

Utilize statistical techniques and modeling to develop meaningful insights and draw conclusions from the data.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders : Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as medical affairs, health economics and market access, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams, to align on research objectives, study design, and data requirements.

Provide expertise and guidance on Outcomes Research methodologies and best practices.

Conduct literature reviews : Stay updated with the latest research and evidence in Outcomes Research and healthcare policies.

Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to inform research projects and identify knowledge gaps.

Communication and reporting : Prepare clear and comprehensive reports summarizing research findings and recommendations.

Present research results to internal teams, external stakeholders, and at conferences and scientific meetings.

  • Project management : Lead and manage Outcomes Research projects, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Ensure projects are executed according to established protocols and objectives.
  • Market access : Inform and guide the drug development process for the future company products, by assessing the potential future implications on MKT Access in Spain of the product profile, its development plans, or the evolution of the MKT Access local environment.
  • Design and execute Outcomes Research studies : Develop research protocols, study designs, and methodologies to investigate the real-world outcomes of healthcare interventions, including pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and healthcare services.

Qualifications :

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in health sciences, economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field.
  • MBA / Master in Health Economics
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Outcomes Research or health economics research, preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry or healthcare consulting firm.
  • At least two years with direct involvement in HTA assessments, preferably face to face interaction with MKT-A customers such as regional and hospital payers and HTA bodies.
  • Deep knowledge of the pharma business, market access challenges in the country and HTA environment is also required.
  • Valuable to have had direct exposure to HTA agencies and budget holders, participating in HTA product reviews and close involvement in MKT-Access and business decision making within the company.
  • Strong understanding of Outcomes Research methodologies, study design, statistical analysis, and modeling.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements related to Outcomes Research.
