Fertilizers Europe is searching for a Plant Nutrition Officer - 1 year (maternity leave) with eventual contract extension to join our team. The Association represents the interests of the European fertilizer industry. We are the source of information on  fertilizers and the sector’s voice in Europe. We deal with questions related to agriculture,  environment, technology, safety, climate, economy and trade, as well as supporting our members  with statistics and other information. Our offices are located in Brussels, and we have a multi-cultural  team of 14 staff members. 

Starting date: May-June 2024. 

Location: Brussels, on-site with some weekly teleworking. 

Duration: 1 year contract during maternity leave with eventual contract extension. 

Academic profile  

• You have a University degree in agriculture/environment or a relevant scientific background.

• You have a good understanding of European legislative processes. 

• You are fluent in oral and written English. 

• You have a full EU working permit.

What would be your tasks? 

• Support activities in the areas of agriculture and Plant Nutrition

• Coordinate and interact with other Plant Nutrition stakeholders (EBIC, ECOFI, APEP…).

• Organise and support Agriculture Committee and related working groups/task forces. • Carry out projects and studies in the areas of Plant Nutrition

• Follow scientific debate on fertilizers and nutrients. 

• Follow discussions on nutrient use efficiency and similar themes. 

• Develop understanding of Plant Nutrition, organic fertilizers and bio stimulants.

• Monitor and react to EU discussions on agricultural and Plant Nutrition issues of concern.

• Represent the association in Plant Nutrition forums. 

• Communicate with EU-institutions, e.g. DG AGRI and DG ENVI, and other stakeholders of the food  chain, especially COPA/COGECA. 

What you have 

• Minimum 4 years of working experience with relevant background. 

• Experience in public relations and advocacy is a plus. 

• Experience of working with members and through committees.

• You are self-driven and able to take initiative and ownership. 

• You are able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
