MISSION 

 

The main responsibility of the Performance Improvement Engineer is to identify the root cause of the main technical issues of the fleet and look for initiatives to solve them. This task will be mainly performed in electrical and mechanical subsystems of the solar and wind generation units, working with the Performance Management team members or in collaboration with other EDPR departments and external suppliers.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES 

 

•    Improve wind turbine and solar site performance by providing recommendations related to availability, efficiency, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance and opex issues.
•    Manage initiatives aimed to improve the original power curve of the generation units (power improvements)
•    Manage cross-platform initiatives between Europe & LATAM and North American fleets.
•    Work with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), 3rd party engineers, EDPR engineers, medium component manufacturers and other industry resources.
•    Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of the main technical issues of EDPR wind and solar fleet.
•    Lead the efforts to trial initiatives to improve the performance of the generation units and validate the success of the configuration changes implemented.
•    Provide recommendations for fleet wide implementation plans of such initiatives.
•    Manage wind turbine and solar supplier technical resources to ensure focus on priorities and achieve PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT targets by being the EDPR technical point of contact.
•    Review and coordinate the technical due diligence of the proactive configuration changes for the assets in operation.
•    Support the commissioning of wind and solar sites to guarantee known configuration changes are implemented since the beginning of the operation of the assets.
•    Implement lessons learned and continuous improvement of processes in which it is involved
•    Participate and/or lead transversal projects.
•    Additional duties as required.
 

REQUIRED PROFILE

 

1.    ACADEMIC LEVEL

BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. MS preferred.

 

2.    REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

3 – 5 years of proven experience working with electromechanical systems, preferably in the wind energy industry or renewables sector. Electrical and electromechanical experience will be valued. 

 

3.    SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft tools (Office, Teams, Power BI,…).

 

4.    LANGUAGES

High level of English. Other languages, such as Portuguese, French, etc will be valued.

•    Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to engineering and construction.

•    Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills.
•    Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiaiton skills.
•    Strong time-management skills, including demonstrated ability to provide technical support for multiple concurrent activities.
•    Exemplary standards of integrity, ethics, safety, quality, and productivity.
•    Ability to operate a motor vehicle, including possession of a valid driver’s license.
•    Physical capability to kneel and climb in order to access wind turbine towers and equipment for inspections and data collection.

 

Willingness and ability to travel frequently (20-30%)
