DirecciónClimate17 is looking for a Senior Quality Manager BESS - Renewable Energy based in Madrid, for one of our clients with a global presence in the renewable sector.
The Senior Quality Manager of Energy Storage is responsible for the supplier quality management of key Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) components.
In this function they will :
- Enhance and establish supply contracts for BESS and / or essential components by refining technical specifications, overseeing production quality assurance, and negotiating warranty terms.
- Continuously develop the Quality Management Plan (QMP) for BESS.
- Address claims regarding defects in BESS components' design, materials, or workmanship with suppliers.
- Engage and oversee independent experts for production quality assurance and root cause analysis in case of defects or claims.
- Oversee production quality assurance for battery cells, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), system integration, safety systems, and BESS delivery to project sites.
- Actively contribute to improving the company's quality and warranty standards for BESS components and power plants.
- Provide support for commissioning activities.
Key Competencies
Technical / Commercial Skills :
- Proficient understanding of energy storage systems (ESS) and technologies associated with essential components.
- Strong familiarity with ESS plant design tailored to various grid service purposes and integration with solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power plants.
- Thorough comprehension of the economic limitations across different ESS service applications.
- Knowledgeable about the underlying causes of ESS failures, deficiencies, and degradation mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience in conducting performance evaluations of ESS.
- Proficiency in managing warranty claims related to ESS.
- Relevant expertise in negotiating supply contracts and ensuring supplier quality.
- Experience in navigating engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts and overseeing project management.
- Skilled in supervising inspection service providers and laboratory operations.

Education and Experience Qualifications :
- A bachelor's degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or in Physics
- Minimum of 7 / 8 years of professional experience within the energy storage industry, demonstrating expertise in the specified areas
- Proficiency in familiar QM methods, processes, and standards
- Previous work experience in diverse international settings and cross-disciplinary environments
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional proficiency in other languages such as Spanish, Italian, or French is advantageous.
- The Senior Quality Manager Energy Storage applies their expertise in BESS and component technology, as well as power plant design, construction, and operation, ideally possessing the following key competencies.
