Manage Sensory operations (both DI and DA) to support all projects across APAC and develop research strategies to guide informed product design decisions for Snacks Pep+ iniatives through global sensory and consumer research capabilities, product insights and deep technical expertise across Foods and Beverage categories.
Responsibilities- Work closely with key APAC Snacks cross functional stakeholders to implement Sensory & Consumer Experience global snacks Pep+ research roadmaps and ensure local adherence to the process - Influence
- Use strategic thinking to develop robust integrated research plan and aligning key senior stakeholders up to Band 2 across various business functions (R&D, Consumer Insights, Marketing) – Influence
- Leverage existing global EXP processes and protocols and implement locally to drive time and cost efficiencies within the teams supported – Consult/Execute
- Develop and lead implementation and execution of EHS procedures within Sensory and Consumer facilities in Shanghai. Identify and establish efficient, repeatable, and safe product preparation procedures for product testing – Execute
- Partner with key external academic institutions to both horizon scan and bring in house new, cutting edge consumer science techniques to build internal capability - Decide
- Stay connected to APAC R&D capability roadmap, and proactively design and propose physical capability evolutions for Sensory Lab and Consumer Research Center as needed – Consult/Execute
- Work closely with line manager and APAC EXP Director to implement and promote EXP vision and mission - Influence
- Provide actionable insights and interpretation based on both Qualitative & Quantitative research with consumers for both existing and future R&D projects. Implications of research will need to be communicated to senior managers and up to band 2 executives. – Consult/Execute
- Collaborate as part of Global Sensory Operations – Influence/Execute
- Mentor and coach EXP peers to increase capability and promote good research practices in line with wider business priorities – Influence
- Work with EXP peers and external agency partners to ensure that required external resources are available and allocated and appropriate test designs are set and deployed to best practice requirements - Execute
- Advanced Degree (Masters/PhD) preferred, in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Psychology, Food Science, Sensory science) with a strong theoretical background in test design, research methodologies & statistical analysis techniques
- Minimum 5 years previous experience in a Sensory, Consumer research/insights role preferably in an FMCG environment
- Deep knowledge of product testing methodologies with strong background in both Qualitative & Quantitative research methods
- Deep knowledge of Sensory testing methodologies and operations, i.e., DI and DA methods, panel management, data collections softwares, such as EyeQuestion
- Horizon scanning and ability to implement in house cutting edge consumer science methods
- Good understanding/appreciation of the broader business environment and application of technical and commercial knowledge
