Software QA Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a manager to drive the quality assurance efforts within container ecosystem in the SUSE Rancher Engineering team.

You are experienced in supporting the software engineering teams in terms of planning and implementing manual and automated test frameworks, mentoring team members, maintaining quality assurance standards and keeping current with ongoing technology & projects, tools and frameworks.

You will work closely with the project manager and technical leads to sync testing activities with release schedules, establish common processes, toolsets across projects, and represent the team in cross functional activities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and be part of various open source projects in the container ecosystem, like Kubernetes and Helm.

Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements and updates.

and coordinating projects for systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.

  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development;

ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Typically 8 or more years of related work experience, including 3 or more years of technical / people leadership experience.
  • Experience with development in cloud or container technologies.
  • Hands on expertise in the areas of software testing, automation, and CI / CD.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, conflict resolution, and management in an agile environment.
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experienced in managing team members across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
  • Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation).
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Good understanding of the company's policies and processes.
