POSITION SUMMARY

Assist and support Associate Director Statutory & Tax and Manager Accounting-Tax & Compliance Team with all tax related matters related to the Spanish business operations of MVWC’s legal entities as this position is part of the Audit, Tax, and Compliance (ATC) Team for Spain.

This position’s responsibilities will include perform all tax tasks in a strong control environment. Ensure all tax requirements and correct tax registration of transactions in accordance with U.

S. GAAP, MVWC accounting and reporting requirements SOPs, and in accordance with Spanish tax law. Be a point of contact with external advisors and tax authorities in case of determining requirements and tax audits and acts as MVWC Spain tax expert for all business activities.

Participate in the design of any new or updated processes implemented in Spain that may have a tax impact on business legal entities.

Interact with Finance and Audit, Tax, and Compliance (ATC) Team for Spain.

CRITICAL TASKS

Job Functions

  • Ensures all tax requirements for the MVWC Spanish entities are properly fulfilled on time, in compliance with tax law in Spain and implemented processes, resources and reviews.
  • Ensures compliance with defined rules and procedures to meet tax requirements and tax audits in all areas / all entities in Spain.

Support the implementation of any defined or new rules and procedures to ensure that compliance with tax requirements.

Assist, prepare and provide accurate complete supporting documentation when needed and in case of a tax audit in accordance with U.

S. Gaap accounting, Spanish Gaap accounting and reporting requirements and MVWC Standard Procedures

  • Assists Associate Director of Statutory & Tax to provide Tax support in all MVWC Spain activity, acting as internal tax expert in Spain.
  • Assures the maintenance of a strong control environment, with complete adherence to internal controls and SOPs.
  • Acts as first communication point on tax and statutory matters, ensuring Associate Director is informed to ensure compliance with tax requirements.
  • Ensures that the guidance and instructions from Associate Director Statutory & Tax and Manager Accounting-Tax & Compliance are followed.

Any necessary corrections are made in a timely manner and processes updated to eliminate any errors.

  • Work together with Associate Director Statutory & Tax and Manager Accounting-Tax & Compliance on any special requirements or projects as required.
  • Provide an inquisitive and critical view of all business activity and accounting transactions reported by the Spanish entities, to identify and highlight potential tax, statutory and operational risks to the Associate Director Statutory & Tax and Manager Accounting-Tax & Compliance, as well as help train the Statutory and Tax Compliance team to be able to identify the same issues.
  • Support and define rules and procedures to meet tax requirements in all areas / all entities in Spain. Support the implementation of the mentioned rules and procedures to ensure compliance with tax requirements.
  • Assist with the tax planning process for the Corporate Income Tax (CIT) in all Spanish entities, in coordination with Associate Director Statutory & Tax and Manager Accounting-Tax & Compliance, and act upon and resolve incidents identified during these processes.
  • Ensures documentation to complete the tax return is accurate, internally consistent, and clear and it is available while tax is open for a tax audit.
  • Assist with the Intercompany (IC) transactions processes (including Transfer Pricing issues) and VAT Basis processes including assist with the IC and VAT Basis reports, assist with any withholding process and Local Taxes processes or any other tax processes.

Discuss results with Associate Director Statutory & Tax and Manager Accounting-Tax & Compliance and suggest and help implement improvements.

  • Provides formal opinions about the tax impacts and consequences and will issues proposals and suggestions to ensure treatment is in compliance with the tax requirements.
  • Evaluates tax impacts in new processes and will provide the tax support on any internal or external process in the Spanish entities.
  • Implements continuous improvements to achieve tax efficiencies while respecting all the time the US GAAP accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Works in collaboration with other departments, on-site and off-site, internal and external to MVCI to improve processes, procedures & controls to achieve the main goals described above.
  • Develop the relation with the US Global Tax team to understand their requirements and better support them, as expected, and on time.

Including : Cash Tax forecast reconciliation and preparation of bridge to final Statutory results. US vs Local GAAP BS (YTD) reconciliation, including BS adjustments and corrections.

Deferred US vs Local GAAP adjustments to be updated when Local GAAP FS are completed.

  • Interfaces with the Regional Director of Finance EME, Manager ATC Spain, S&M Finance Department, Ops Finance Department, Statutory & Tax Compliance team, Cork Finance Department, Legal Department, External Lawyers, External Auditors, External Tax Advisors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Tax and Accounting Master Degree or similar Tax and Accounting studies is preferred.

Related Work Experience

2 years working experience in tax and accounting and experience in dealing with tax declarations and preparation of lead schedules.

Strong knowledge of Local GAAP and Spain Tax requirements is required.

Experience managing and understanding legal and tax administrative documentation.

Experience in dealing with Auditors and Tax Auditors is preferred.
