After a record-breaking multi-million USD acquisition, Alcon have moved back into the Surgical Glaucoma Space by acquiring the Hydrus Microstent from Ivantis.
As a result, Alcon are now embarking on building a bespoke, global Surgical Glaucoma team to cement their status as the world leader in eye care and Surgical Glaucoma.
The Hydrus Microstent is uniquely placed to help patients see brilliantly with class leading clinical data that sets it apart from any other device in the exploding MIGS’ surgical space.
We have a number of exciting new vacancies in our Spanish sales team for hybrid Surgical Glaucoma Specialist’ sales representatives covering various parts of the region.
As a Surgical Glaucoma Specialist, you will work with territory-wide glaucoma and / or cataract surgeons to facilitate product approval and train them on the surgical implantation procedure for Alcon’s Surgical Glaucoma product portfolio in the highest quality manner, thereby contributing to increased sales and commercial objectives in the allocated geographical territory.
In this role, a typical day will include :
Become a proficient ( certified’) Surgical Glaucoma Trainer thereby able to train surgeons on the surgical implantation techniques for Alcon’s Surgical Glaucoma products
Contribute to sales targets in allocated territory
Increase Hydrus user base across territory
Generate and develop new business to meet specified goals
Learn and maintain thorough knowledge of MIGS industry product information
Plan and manage geographical sales territory
Build, maintain and nurture customer relationships for example, with major Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
Understand and communicate information regarding company products, services, policies and procedures to new and existing clients
Comply with all legal requirements relating to role and business practice
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON :
You will be a hungry, driven, natural winner’ with high commercial acumen coupled with exemplary technical knowledge and an open-minded attitude.
Ideally you will have surgical ophthalmic experience, but if your current scientific knowledge sits in another therapy area, you will have the natural curiosity and ability to learn a new and technically demanding therapy area.
Sales experience in hospital medical sales is a must. We would strongly prefer candidates to have surgical / medical devices experiences and or ophthalmic sales experience (ideally in Glaucoma or cataract surgery)
Very strong ability to take on, understand and converse in technically demanding, medical / scientific knowledge and language
Highly valuable Scientific Bachelor s Degree related to Ophthalmic or biomedical
Fluent in spoken and written English
Excellent selling, relationship building and people-engagement skills. Equally comfortable demonstrating these remotely using virtual platforms as well as in person
Commercially astute with a proven track record of success in sales
Highly valuable experience and demonstrable success in new product launches
Above average technical disease area product and competitor product knowledge
Professional manner, attention to detail with outstanding personal organizational skills, strong customer focus , highly proactive, agile, flexible, and adaptable
Self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independent and in a high performing team
Excellent internal (colleague) and external (customer) communication skills
Willingness to travel extensively (including staying away from home when required)
High integrity in all business dealings both internally and externally
Full, clean driver’s license
