DataOpsEngineer / System Administrator (m / f / d)
As acentral institution, the Data Integration Center (DIZ) represents abasic component for data-driven medicine at the University MedicalCenter Freiburg (UKF) and is part of the nationwide MedicalInformatics Initiative (MII) and the Network University Medicine(NUM).
The aim is to process patient care data in astandardized manner, while maintaining data protection, and to makeit available for quality assurance tasks, process optimization and,in particular, for scientific questions.
In this way, the DIZ makesa significant contribution to improving patient care and scientificprogress.

As part of a committed and collegial team,you will use your skills for the following tasks in particular :
- General administration such asserver operation and monitoring
- Design andfurther development of the DataOps system architecture and updatingof operating documentation
- Automation ofprocesses using scripts (e.g. Bash, Python)
- Operation and ongoing implementation of technical components fromthe MII and NUM networks
- Introduction andfurther development of infrastructure tools for system monitoring
- Connection of the protected data room to thebackend structures / data warehouse (based on clickhousetechnology)
- Establishment and furtherdevelopment of a scientific workstation or protected data room(based on R-Studio, Jupyter Notebook, etc.
in the context of theDIZ service spectrum
- Support for datascientists in the analysis of complex data
- Prospective further development of the software components into aKubernetes-based DIZ analysis environment as aPlatform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
Youshould have the following qualifications
- A degree in (bio / medical / economic) computer science,data science or several years of professional experience in thefield of computer science
- a reliable,structured and goal-oriented way of working
- Knowledge of modern operating, development and integration methods(e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, "Infrastructure / Platform as Code",Apache Kafka), own experience in this area is desirable
- Experience in the productive operation of ITapplications
- Very good knowledge of Linux
- Experience with programming usingprogramming languages, such as Java or Python, for automation anddata integration
- Very good written andspoken communication skills
- ideallyexperience with common data analysis tools and technologies (suchas R-Studio, Numpy, Pandas, TensorFlow etc.)
- Prior knowledge of clinical information processing (e.g. HIS, HL7,FHIR), clinical workflows and interoperability standards inhealthcare (e.
g. LOINC, SNOMED-CT) would be desirable
The position is initially limited until theend of 2026 due to the project.
