Scopely is looking for a talented and experienced Technical Artist to join our team in the UK, Spain, Ireland or Portugal on a remote / hybrid basis.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, Strategy / MMO title, creating a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey!

What You’ll Do

As a valued member of the art team you will be working closely with Art and Engineering to design, implement and drive adoption of an end to end content pipeline that supports production.

You will bring both creative and technical viewpoints that enable you to bridge the gap between disciplines, playing a vital role in delivering the artistic vision for the game.

  • Work closely with both art and engineering teams to help establish efficient workflows and tools for the Artists
  • Work with the art team to create shaders using the Unity engine that fulfill the artistic vision while being performant
  • Responsible for establishing and promoting technical best practices
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to create a smooth flow of assets into the game
  • Help create technical budgets for all assets in the game, ensuring they are valid for gameplay and optimized for performance
  • Always being looking to push the quality bar and innovate with new tooling
  • Proactively use knowledge and experience to identify & solve problems before they affect the development team
  • Direct art optimization efforts, informing best decisions, ensuring content remains at high visual fidelity
  • Create and test any new tools before deployment into production
  • Create documents and knowledge share

What We’re Looking For

  • You will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the content creation pipeline (modeling / Uv’ing, texturing / shading, lighting, VFX, and creating tools, shaders and technical solutions for game development)
  • Experience as a Technical Artist on shipped AAA titles
  • Experience with PBR materials and shader creation and knowledge of the Unity shader editor
  • Strong Scripting and Coding Skills (ie. Python or C#)
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting technical issues and possess strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proactive attitude for bridging the communication between art and engineering
  • Familiarity working and developing on a multi-platform project
  • You have in-depth knowledge of technical limitations and requirements for in game art assets
  • Proven experience building art production tools for Maya, Substance Painter, Unity
  • Experience working in real-time lighting workflows using a combination of baked and real-time lighting models
