Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill’s Tax and Customs function globally employs 220 professionals and the Indirect Tax Advisory Team consists of 10 VAT experts in the EMEA region. The VAT Advisory Team safeguards and creates VAT related processes, manages audits, provides VAT advice, partners with the Business, performs analytics and builds/maintains the VAT Control Framework. The VAT advisory team is supported by the VAT Technology Team for ERP and Technology related solutions, the FinOps Tax Team in our Shared Service Center in Bulgaria for the VAT reporting and compliance and the Finance Data & Analytics team for data products.

As VAT Manager Spain and Portugal, you will be part of the Indirect Tax Advisory Team and responsible for Spanish and Portuguese VAT matters. Another key aspect of the role will be performing data analytics and designing new data products with support from the Finance Data & Analytics team for the EMEA region. The Spanish Tax team is based in our office in Sant Cugat, Barcelona region, Spain. Flexible work arrangements and/or working from another location or country in the EU can be considered, although it is expected that in case of e.g. a VAT audit or training to the business you are able to/willing to travel to the office.

Key Accountabilities

•    Manage the Value Added Tax position of the Cargill entities with business in Spain and Portugal, including but not limited to advising on Value Added Tax matters, managing VAT registrations, monitoring of business changes and handling the tax audits.
•    Coordinate the provision of information to the tax office during audits, research tax technical issues, identify risks that might bring additional tax cost for the company and perform analytics to find inconsistencies.
•    Participate in tax and business projects and coordinate their respective implementation in the designated country, consulting on system changes, business reorganizations and projects.
•    Advise on VAT matters applicable to a day-to-day transaction of the businesses.
•    Improve business and finance processes for the purpose of creating a control framework.
•    Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

•    Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax or equivalent experience
•    Fluent Spanish and English
•    Minimum of 4 years of related work experience;
•    Up to date with latest changes in VAT legislation;
•    Able to communicate complex VAT concepts and financial information to non-tax-specialists;
•    Able to work well on your own initiative;
