The candidate needs to be client-oriented, capable of independently developing sophisticated data integration solutions, and skilled at presenting solutions to broad audiences within IT and Business groups.
The right candidate for this position should have a proven track record for an international Pharma / Biopharma company.
They should have project and team management capabilities, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage vendor relationships and data platform and analytics service providers.
In addition the candidate must stay abreast of new technologies and be willing to present and / or train fellow team members on those technologies.
S / he must also adopt corporate leader competencies; attract and develop top talent, drive results, possess a strategic mindset, mange ambiguity and complexity, optimize work processes and drive engagement.
You will be responsible for :
- Proactively identify opportunities / threats leveraging data platforms and data integration to enable better decision making at Alexion
- Act as a central point of expertise and drive cross-functional collaboration to provide advice on key strategic questions
- Educate executive, business and IT team members about the business value of data management platforms
- Collaborate with leadership and within IT to support cross-functional strategies and tactics using data, which contribute directly to the growth and optimization of Alexion’s business
- Work with cross functional teams to structure problems, identify appropriate data sources, extract data, and develop integrated information delivery solutions
- Working seamlessly with cross-functional subject matter experts within Alexion to drive data management and modeling to support self-service business analysis capabilities
- Participate and provide technical leadership in all phases of a project from discovery and planning through implementation and delivery
- Evolve data platforms, tools, and methods
- Responsively provide high quality solutions and answers to ad-hoc data requests
You will need to have :
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, business analysis and data management
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and creative problem-solving skills including the ability to convey analytical insights in actionable business terms
- Highly motivated self-starter with the confidence and ability to present complex information concisely and effectively to all audiences, including senior leaders and groups
- Strong analytical, logical thinking and organizational skills, backed by a logical approach, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to anticipate future business trends and to integrate that context into IT and business practices
- Experience leading technical teams and individuals across geographies
- Track record of effective functional and cross-functional collaboration and leadership
- Detail-oriented, self-starter, able to work both independently and in a team environment
- Experience using web services and pre-built Data Lake architectures
- Desire and ability to learn / implement new tools and analytic capabilities
- Git-hub portfolio of projects / kaggle competition participation or personal web-site / blog
- Experience building collaborative environments optimized for data scientists with elastic compute configurations, and a focus on enabling reproducible research and markdown
- Experience designing and developing methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyse structured and unstructured data, from diverse sources including big data sources
- Experience developing and using advanced software applications, algorithms, querying and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate datasets and models
- Proven ability to design, articulate, and deliver complex, large-scale data solutions that are scalable, robust, secure, and resilient
- Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry experience a plus
- Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Spark, EMR, etc.)
- Experience using dBT, Fivetran, GitHub, Apache Airflow
- Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL / ELT frameworks and data orchestration pipelines.
- AWS Architecture Framework knowledge and certification
- Expertise in Snowflake advanced concepts like setting up resource monitors, RBAC controls, virtual warehouse sizing, query performance tuning, Zero copy clone, time travel and understand how to use these features
- Expertise in deploying Snowflake features such as data sharing, events and lake-house patterns
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities, SnowSQL, SnowPipe, Big Data model techniques using Python
- Data Pipeline : experience with ETL / ELT / Data Loading tools using Apache Airflow
- Prior experience supporting teams using statistical computer languages (SQL, SAS, R, Python, etc.) to manipulate and draw insights from large data sets
- Experience testing alternative modelling and their real-world advantages / drawbacks
- Experience working with data science operations teams who are utilizing serverless architectures, Kubernetes, Docker / containerization
- Solid understanding of analytic data architecture and data modelling concepts and principles, including data lakes, warehouses and marts
- Data warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques (Kimball, 3NF, Star Schema, Dimension modelling, Data Marts, Operational Data Stores)
We would prefer for you to have :
- Master’s degree in a technical or healthcare-related field of study
- Prior experience of 10+ years in as a Data Platform, or Technical Leader in data preferably in the biotech / pharma industry
