JOB DESCRIPTION :
A position is open at the Experimental Tuberculosis Unit of the IGTP to work within the H2020-funded project "SMA-TB : A novel Stratified Medicine Algorithm to predict treatment responses to host-directed therapy in TB Patients.
Proposal number : 847762. Call reference : H2020-SC1-BHC-2018-2020", lead by Dr. Cristina Vilaplana.
This position will especially be of interest for applicants who want to expand or gain experience in translational research and in communicating science.
Specific interests of the laboratory include understanding the role of the human immune response to M. tuberculosis in TB patients, outcomes and response to treatment in the context of a Clinical Studies.
These include i) large scale tuberculosis studies to identify and characterize inflammatory mediators and RNA host expression analysis in blood, urine and tissue samples, and ii) collaborating in processing samples for the study of pathogen factors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE :
The applicant must have the following qualifications :
- Bachelors in Biology or similar.
- Knowledge skills in standard techniques such as ELISA, LUMINEX, RNA extraction or PCR.
- Knowledge in working under Biosafety Level 2 or 3 (BL2 / BL3) conditions.
- Excellence in evidence storage and data presentation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of other languages will be positively considered.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Valuable :
Holding or being enrolled in a Master in Immunology, Pathobiology, Microbiology or similar field.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :
The main tasks to conduct are :
- Plan experiments according to the tasks
- Acquire and analyse data
- Present research info and results at internal and external scientific meetings
- Participate in the design, organization and execution of the communication and dissemination activities of the project
- Support tasks for the project research team

- Open-ended contract (Ley de la ciencia 14 / 2011).
- Part- time contract (30h / week).
- Gross annual remuneration inherent in the position covered by this call, will be set according to the amount awarded for the grant awarded, distributed in 12 payments.
