We are now looking for a
Chief Accountant
to join our Financial Statutory Accounting Services (Finland, Italy, Central and West Europe) team working for a better future. This position is for Wärtsilä Iberica, S.A. (ES10) and Wärtsilä Portugal, S.A. (PT10). The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Bermeo, Spain but also other locations in Spain are possible.
What you will be doing
The Chief Accountant is a financials minded person, who also partners up with other functions outside of finance. (S)he is proactive, externally focused and future oriented. Utilising strong networking and influencing skills, (s)he identifies opportunities and risks.
Responsible for developing and maintaining close cooperation and communication with Group Control, Treasury and Business Controls, local management and other stakeholders.
As Chief Accountant, your work will focus on these main responsibilities:
- Company level reporting, according to legal compliance and Wärtsilä Corporation accounting manual, guidelines and requirements.
- Ensuring correctness of local company’s financial situation (local GAAP in Spain and Portugal) and tax position, including for example Profit & Loss Statement, Balance sheet and Fixed Assets.
- Accounting and closing activities on company level in SAP and HFM, participating in development and optimizing related processes, and supporting the businesses in financial processes.
- Collecting and preparing financial information, reports and ana-lysis to internal and external stakeholders and authorities, e.g. tax related reporting (direct, indirect, transfer pricing, customs).
- Income tax in co-operation with external tax advisor. Preparation and filing VAT returns. Preparation of the transfer pricing local file for the local company and the foreign permanent establishments
- Contributing in external auditing, internal auditing and internal control reporting of the company.
- Supporting and participating in development of Financial Statutory Accounting Services in cooperation with area organisation and in projects which require financial competence and support.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Financial Statutory Accounting knowledge and experience
- Wärtsilä accounting and IFRS and local GAAP knowledge
- Local accounting & tax laws and principles
- Auditing (both external and internal) knowledge
- Internal Control knowledge
- Analysing skills
- Corporate Governance knowledge
- Code of Conduct
- Out of the box thinker
- SAP and other relevant reporting tools
- Fluent in English
- Several years of working experience in financial accounting and reporting.
