As the central IT facility of RWTH Aachen University, the IT Center has stood for quality in a wide range of areas for over 60 years.
The IT Center supports the teaching and research tasks and central processes of the university and provides basic services and individual services for the university facilities.

Your profile
- You have a university degree (Master's or comparable) in data science, computer science or a comparable university degree.
- You have experience with medium or large IP networks and are familiar with Cisco switches based on IOS (Internetworking Operating System) or NX-OS.
- Knowledge of IPv6, DNS, NTP and DHCP is desirable.
- You are familiar with the development and implementation of service-oriented solutions in direct contact with customers.
- Ideally, you have acquired a CCNA or corresponding certifications.
- Their other qualities include commitment and motivation, flexibility and a willingness to undergo further training.
Social skills, the ability to work in a team, high motivation and commitment round off your profile.
Your tasks
In the Networks department of the IT Center, you will take on tasks in the Network Operations team. This includes the operation and management of logical network technology (error, configuration, statistics and security management) based on Cisco hardware, as well as the operation of the connection to the science network (X-WiN).
The following areas of responsibility will be the focus of your work :
- Planning and expansion of the RWTH core network
- Further development of network management and network monitoring
- Coordination of central IPv4 and IPv6 address allocation
- Carrying out complex error analyses for IP-based communication
Our offer
Recruitment is on an employment basis.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and is limited to 3 years.
The fixed term is based on 14 para. 1 of the Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG).
This is a full-time position.
The classification is based on the TV-L.
The position is valued at EG 13 TV-L.
