CustomerTeam: We are partnering with Walmart & Sam’s Club in a more collaborative, strategic & transformational manner than ever, investing our time and energy in data, analytics, and future-forward projects focused on growing categories essential to Walmart, Sam’s Club and PepsiCo. 

The Senior Advisor role is an essential position on the best-in-class PepsiCo Advisor Team, supporting our merchant partners at Walmart. The opportunity is available due to promotion within our ~40-person team.

The Walmart Senior Category Manager (Senior Advisor) leads in the development and execution of the Customer Category strategic plan, collaborating with the merchandising team, our internal Advisor team, PepsiCo Shopper insights, and a wide array of analytic and research resources. This position will leverage advanced technical skills and resources to cultivate advanced and predictive analytics and bring forward customer-specific, category-specific insights underpinng modular relay strategy and macro space recommendations. This position also leads and has ultimate ownership of the strategic thought leadership recommendations through optimized assortment for the modular relay processes, and ownership of the modular relay process.

Responsibilities
  • Own Customer engagement and Category Advisorship at Walmart
  • Conduct detailed category decompositions and reporting leveraging appropriate information resources to include: Luminate Channel Performance and Shopper Behavior, IRI POS, IRI Panel, and Custom Shopper Research to drive Insights to Action
  • Provide insights on emerging shopper and market trends through reporting and ad hoc analysis
  • Support Walmart buying team by utilizing PepsiCo capabilities to deliver assortment, space, merchandising performance, and macro space analytics
  • Lead and train Category Analyst in category management initiatives including business analysis, insights development, and modular processes
  • Ensure continual training and development to enhance business knowledge and analytical skills
  • Communicate insights and best in class results to divisional/corporate personnel, as well as, other Category Management team members
  • Ownership of the success of Modular Relays from Strategy inception through Modular Submission
  • Leading the development of the modular relay strategy deep dive
  • Developing demand and store trait clustering, and assortment optimization modeling and recommendations
  • Analyzing insights, data, and analytics to derive merch flow recommendations
  • Leveraging insights to cultivate test store recommendations
  • Presentation of Strategy deep dive to the customer
  • Supporting the Template Mod generation for the DMM VP Buyer Walkthroughs
  • Leadership in Planogram automation strategy and execution of full modular generation
  • Coordination and participation in modular draw process, modular validation, sending status updates and coordinating modular review with the buying team
  • Ensuring the accuracy of the modulars and the integrity of ensuring the relay strategy is being executed
  • Generating and communicating the modular matrix information to the buying team
  • Leveraging internal analytic tools to recommend macro-space recommendations

Compensation and Benefits

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $106,300 - $177,850 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
  • 8 + years of Category Management / Insights / Analytics experience within the consumer-packaged goods industry with previous experience as a Walmart Category Advisor preferred
  • 8 + years of experience in analyzing and interpreting data and team/project management experience
  • Strong technical skills required and expertise with advanced analytics
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Previous experience with Walmart customer data, IRI and/or other syndicated data to help create category stories and understand the customer
  • Experience with Luminate data preferred but not required
  • JDA Space Planning (ProSpace)
  • Strong planning/organizing skills; the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Able to establish and attain high standards for self and team; able to make decisions and solve problems
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • *This role does not support relocation*
