Senior Project Manager Logistics
PURPOSE
The Senior Project Manager Logistics (SPML) is the key resource for driving global projects in primary & secondary logistics. There are two main purposes of the role:
- Management of global & strategic logistics projects (primary & secondary logistics)
- Management of GWT GBS resources (Team Lead Function)
The Senior Project Manager Logistics will ensure that projects and initiatives are managed until realization by applying the project management methodology. The SPML will act as a coach for global & regional logistics Project Manager, to also ensure the successful realization of local projects. The role requires a strong supply chain & logistics understanding as the Senior Project Manager Logistics will manage & work closely together with different stakeholders within the supply chain function (e.g. planning teams) as well as external stakeholders, such as the logistics service providers.
In addition, the SPML will act as the primary contact person for the GWT colleagues within GBS, being responsible for building a well-working culture and connecting teams within GWT.
YOUR TASKS & RESPONSABILITIES
- Identification & design of global logistics projects
The SPML designs logistics projects following the strategic roadmap to enable building up the right capabilities in line with the GWT strategy. In close collaboration with operational teams on global, regional and local level as well as stakeholders from different functions, the SPML also identifies additional projects/initiatives that can lead to significant contributions. The SPML is responsible for the commercial evaluation of projects, the integration of the required stakeholders and the design of project teams to achieve its successful realization.
- Leading & driving global logistics projects
The SPML leads important strategic projects, being responsible for creating detailed project plans, coordinating stakeholders and activities by using content knowhow to support the project success.
- Development & governance of logistics project management guidelines & processes
The SPML develops guidelines for recurring projects to allow for standardization and simplification. The SPML ensures the successful handover & implementation of processes to the operational & tactical teams.
- Supporting & leading “emergency” task forces
Within GWT, ensuring operational stability has the highest priority. The SPML can be used as an important supporting tool in critical situations. This includes the adhoc development of task forces, evaluation of the problem and its root causes as well as the development of practical solutions together with operations and the required stakeholders.
- Consulting global, regional & local stakeholders in primary & secondary warehousing and transportation
The SPML uses its supply chain & process knowhow to act as a contact person for questions related to primary & secondary warehousing and transportation, consulting stakeholders from different functions and backgrounds, such as supply chain, IT, quality, etc.
- Managing GWT GBS resources & building GWT culture
The SPML is the primary contact person for the GWT GBS resources, supporting them in contributing to the GWT mission. The SPML builds a well-working culture in line with the GWT culture and ways of working to ensure a successful integration of GBS resources into the GWT organization.
WHO YOU ARE
- Master degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain, industrial engineering or similar.
- Working experience (5+ years) in logistics and supply chain, ideally in healthcare.
- Working experience in consulting is a plus.
- Working experience in managing strategic projects in a complex environment.
- Ideally good knowledge in agile project management tools & methods (project management certificates are a plus).
- Very good knowledge of warehousing & transportation processes.
- Good knowledge of technology & systems used in logistics.
- Ideally good understanding of Bayer supply chain.
- Very good skills in communication.
- Very good skills in managing & leading stakeholders.
- Very good skills in change management.
- Language: English fluent; German is a plus.
