Unilever is looking for an outstanding EU DPOand Senior Global Privacy Counsel to join our Global Privacy Office. You will be responsible for ensuring Unilever's compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws and regulations. You will also provide legal support and guidance to Unilever's global business units and functions on privacy and data protection matters, such as data transfers, data breaches, data subject rights, AI, advertising technology, data governance, and privacy by design.
As the EU DPOand Senior Global Privacy Counsel, you will report to the Global Chief Privacy Officer and work closely with other members of the Global Privacy Office, as well as the regional and local privacy teams. You will also collaborate with various stakeholders across Unilever, such as IT, Marketing, HR, Legal, and Compliance. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team that values innovation, collaboration, initiative and excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the EU DPO for Unilever and its EU subsidiaries, and ensure compliance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws and regulations.
- Monitor and advise on the implementation and effectiveness of Unilever's Global Privacy policies, standards, and procedures.
- Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness programs for Unilever's employees and business partners.
- Manage and coordinate data protection impact assessments, data breach notifications, data subject requests, and data protection audits.
- Provide legal support and guidance to Unilever's global business units and functions on privacy and data protection matters, such as data transfers, data processing agreements, data sharing arrangements, and privacy by design.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in privacy and data protection law and regulation, and assess their impact on Unilever's business operations and strategy.
- Represent Unilever in external forums and engagements with data protection authorities, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders.
ALL ABOUT YOU
- A law degree and a qualification to practice law.
- Relevant experience in privacy and data protection law, preferably in a multinational corporation or a reputable law firm.
- Expert knowledge of the GDPR and other EU data protection laws and regulations, as well as familiarity with other Global Privacy frameworks and standards.
- Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and influence senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach, with the ability to balance legal risks and business objectives.
- A high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- A passion for data protection and privacy, and a commitment to Unilever's purpose, vision, and values.

Location
In September 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London to house the employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars, Lever House in Kingston and Graze in Richmond. We are creating our own Unilever sustainable, agile work environment, purposefully bringing us together in our own Unilever ecosystem. The campus is due to be completed in early 2025 and will consist of two interconnected buildings, as well as landscaped surrounding areas.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money.In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
