About the Faculty of Dentistry
UIC Barcelona is considered one of the most prestigious universities internationally.

The Faculty of Dentistry aims to prepare its students as professionals who are capable of preventing, treating and rehabilitating patients with oral and dental diseases through good practices and high levels of skill.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for a candidate who is strongly committed to undertaking research projects and teaching in the area of Paediatric Dentistry as part of a team of teachers and researchers in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry.
The candidate will coordinate research projects within the Department of Paediatric Dentristry’ lines of research and will form part of the teaching team for the area of Paediatric Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry, on both bachelor’s and postgraduate programmes.
Key responsibilities
To lead departmental research projects. Coordinate research. Raise private and public funds.
To undertake research in Paediaric Dentistry-related lines of research :
1) Diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and oral pathology in the growing patient (from newborn to the young patient / adolescent).
2) Techniques and materials in Paediatric Dentistry.
3) Prognosis and factors related to treatment in the growing patient.
4) Pain and anxiety control in Paediatric Dentistry (ANESTHESIA)
5) Dental traumatology in the growing patient
To give bachelor’s and postgraduate lectures on the subject of Paediatric Dentistry.
To supervise and coordinate Final Degree Projects (TFG) and Final Master s Degree Projects (TFM) in the area of Paediatric Dentistry

In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with a Human Resources Excellence in Research Award, which ensures that candidates are selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria.
The UIC Barcelona selection process involves :
An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move on to the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
A public oral defence by finalist applicants : a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects.
Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence. The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.

A tenure-track position (three years) with a mid-term evaluation (depending on the candidate’s profile, the position could become permanent).

A PhD in Dentistry and Experience in research in Paediatric Dentistry
A good track record in research
Teaching experience
Knowledge of Spanish highly recommended
Particular attention will be paid to candidates with the homologated dentistry degree.
Assessment criteria
The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be evaluated :
Particular attention will be paid to candidates with a research background in Paediatric Dentistry with at least 8 JCR publications.
The ability to carry out independent research. Particular attention will be paid to candidates with experience as a principal investigator, as well as applicants who have made valuable contributions in terms of scientific productivity as part of a research group led by another researcher.
University-level teaching experience
Experience in academic management (such as programme coordination and management, as well as research projects)
A long-term commitment to the University
Knowledge transfer
Knowledge of Spanish will be valued.
