Job Description

As a Senior Director of Platform Engineering, you will lead an engineering group of 4-6 teams that provide essential infrastructure and delivery services for product engineering, working closely with Site Reliability and Engineering to ensure a rock solid, high velocity technical foundation for Nexthink’s SaaS services.

This foundation includes massive infrastructure and data flows in more than 10 regions in AWS Cloud.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should have a very strong mix of outstanding leadership, solid technical skills, be comfortable going from high level strategy roadmap and architecture to implementation technical details, in an environment where change is the only constant.

The candidate should also understand platform thinking and how to deliver shared services to 40+ teams while enabling teams to move fast and autonomously.

We are looking for an outcome (as opposed to output) oriented professional, focus on delivering the right things, fast.

Your main responsibilities will include :

• Lead and grow a high performing Platform Engineering group of teams, distributed across 3 locations (Bangalore, Lausanne, and Madrid), including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance improvement and career progression of the engineers.
• Define and own the engineering roadmap of your group.
• Be the leader and go to person for your group, and of your group for the entire company.
• Attract and retain the best talent.
• Drive the engineering processes, architecture, and technical roadmap within the team in alignment with your Product Management and SRE partners and the Engineering leadership team.
• Manage the technical debt, security, quality, and technical decisions in an efficient and structured manner.
• Evangelize, drive, and continuously improve how to continue building our product iteratively and in a lean way.
• Instill Nexthink values as building foundations for your group.
• Work with Product management and UX teams to help write effective user stories, to build effective product roadmaps with your technical inputs and ensure the smooth and close collaboration with the engineers from discovery to delivery.
• Ensure coordination and full alignment between different agile teams across multiple locations as well as cross-departments collaboration such as Marketing, Sales, HR or Customer Success.
• Ability to contribute technically within the team as required by bringing your experience in architectural decisions, code reviews, prototypes, coding, and software engineering best practices.

Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech / MSc in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Previous experience and excellent track record in a similar platform leadership role, building and leading high performing Platform Engineering teams.
• Experience in early stage and fast-growing startup environments will be highly valued.
• Experience delivering platform capabilities for internal and external consumption (SDKs, libraries, components, APIs, )
• Experience dealing with internationally distributed teams will be highly valued.
• Strong knowledge around the technology stack and processes for full stack development, infrastructure-as-code, containerization and kubernetes, cloud networking & cloud architecture, and DevOps practices and toolsets.
• Prior experience as software or infrastructure engineer, SRE or architect with excellent understanding of coding, system architectures, infrastructure and the ability to discuss technical details and provide insightful inputs.
• Experience collaborating with product managers and engineers to align product and engineering roadmaps to build the right things, fast.
• Strong get things done mindset, willing to do what it takes to get concrete outcomes.
• Teamwork and collaboration are part of your DNA.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient English (spoken and written), Spanish knowledge is a big plus.
