This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals with Azelis, a top global specialty chemical distributor.

This newly created position will be focused on Performance Chemistry and emulsion polymerization technologies, including but not limited to surfactants and specialty monomers across EMEA with a focus on key mandated markets in Western Europe which requires regular travelling.

The BDM position demands a leading industry expert, based on experience and contributions with a record of consistently steering growth in emerging technical trends.

Duties will be both customer and principal facing with technical accountabilities to aid in the growth of the market segment.

Mission

Ensure sustainable growth of Performance Chemicals and emulsion polymerization technologies, including but not limited to surfactants and specialty monomers product ranges across the EMEA region and ensure satisfaction and retention of the main principals supplying these product groups to Azelis.

Act as a leading Azelis technical expert with forward vision and deep insight into future technical trends. Routinely provide expert customer support with clear, concise, and timely communication.

Achieve and maintain a high level of responsiveness and follow-up to customer needs.

Make joint sales calls with the Azelis commercial team and supplier company personnel on key customers. Objective to introduce new products and discuss existing products resulting in increased sales.

  • Assist the sales team by continually identifying and sharing opportunities based on new trends, principal product development, and gap analysis.
  • Develop, validate and lead the Principal’s Market Implementation plan through Azelis regional business teams ensure buy in locally. Delivery of results
  • Lead & support Azelis' teams on a daily basis in providing technical support, marketing & commercial guidance
  • Support conversion of the opportunities pipeline to commercial successes
  • Train teams across EMEA through technical training & joint customer visits in order to start selling and generate a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Work closely with MSD Performance Chemicals, PDM, Marketing Manager and local Product Management
  • Support the marketing and promotion of selected product lines
  • Coordinate sharing and synergies between countries

Reporting

  • Track business performance (purchases and sales ) and analyse results on a continuous basis
  • Report business performance metrics (volumes, cost of goods vs targets and development pipeline) to MSD and PDM
  • Develop market and competitive intelligences around Principal(s) business
  • Serve as central point of contact for the principal, for his product line communicating with PDM and MSD representing Azelis

Sustainability

Translate the Group’s Sustainability Strategy into concrete job-related action items and contribute actively and timely to the implementation of the sustainability KPIs

Key metrics

  • Realization of objectives and targets (growth, volumes, number of customers)
  • Principal satisfaction

Delivery of results :

  • Seek solutions to continuously develop the Principal product range
  • Actively monitor the project pipeline and take corrective actions
  • Coordinate sharing and synergies between countries
  • Manage critical issues
  • Negotiate prices and terms & conditions
  • Organize local meetings with team to develop the business
  • Support local teams by joint visits to customers if requested

Reporting :

  • Track performance (internal and external) and analyse results on a continuous basis
  • Signal issues and define improvement actions together with local teams and offer support
  • Report performance to PDM and MSD
  • Serve as central internal expert for our teams and principal

Reporting line : Market segment Director Performance Chemicals

Profile

  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
  • 5 or more years of industry experience, preferably in Emulsion Polymerization, Surfactants, Monomers and adjacent chemistries in a commercial setting.
  • Proven track record in Business Development with a focus on technical solutions is a plus.
  • A thorough understanding of the specialty chemical distribution field is a plus.
  • Ability to travel
  • Analytical, yet flexible, approach and attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Excellent listening skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to liaise with teams and influence people at all levels to achieve results through others.
  • Excellent customer service skills and / or experience to work effectively to support the sales team and monitor various stages of the selling process.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and product technologies as well as training a technical staff in a team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
