Account Manager, Public Affairs and Communications

We specialise in providing clients with insights, analysis and advice on navigating political and regulatory hurdles across Europe.
Vulcan Consulting is seeking an experienced and ambitious Account Manager, who will be based in our Brussels office. The successful candidate will become a key member of the client servicing team in Brussels and will primarily assist the team in supporting our wide range of clients in the financial services, pharmaceutical, and technology sectors.
In addition to day-to-day client work, the successful candidate will assist Vulcan in identifying new business opportunities for our growing practice.
Responsibilities – The candidate will:
- Monitor regulatory and political developments at EU and national level as required;
- Provide strategic regulatory and political analysis and engagement advice to clients;
- Formulating and implementing successful, innovative Public Affairs and Communications campaigns and work in close partnership with our clients as a trusted advisor.
- Supports the team’s overall servicing of the client base;
- Proactively build and utilise personal networks to further our clients’ objectives.
Skills & Experience – The candidate will:
- Have 3 - 5 years of experience working with the EU institutions, in-house or through a consultancy firm;
- Have a University degree (Master’s level) in relevant subjects (e.g. EU Affairs, International Relations, Communications, Public Affairs etc.);
- experience working for the EU institutions, an agency, in-house or a trade association;
- Have a demonstrable understanding of the workings of the EU institutions;
- Have an excellent understanding of the EU’s legislative process;
- Have excellent attention to detail and written skills;
- Have previous experience in providing strategic advice (preferred);
- Have experience in the successful delivery of events (preferred);
- Have experience in the successful delivery of communications strategies (Social media, Podcasts, etc.) (preferred)
Personal qualities – The candidate will:
- Be an enthusiastic team player and quick learner;
- Be able to exercise good judgement;
- Be able to take initiative and demonstrate proactiveness;
- Demonstrate an attention to detail;
- Native or fluent in English, both written and spoken - any other language skills considered an asset;
- Have excellent organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills;
- Willingness to learn and progress within the team;
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced and culturally diverse environment, with competing priorities and workloads;
- Have an entrepreneurial approach to client servicing and business development, with the ability to think 'outside of the box';
